Honda’s All-New Full Redesigned “Fit” for 2015

Honda’s All-New Full Redesigned “Fit” for 2015

The All New All-New
The 2015 Honda Fit has some sizeable wheels to fill, that much is clear.  What is squarely in its favor is that those wheels are its own and come in the form an impressive history filled with accolades and achievements backed by industry experts and returning customers alike.  While some may consider this a challenge, Honda seems to have taken it far beyond anything negative and have used it to engineer an advanced, superior, and inspired new version of everything that has made the Fit the amazing vehicle it has remained since its introduction in 2006.
In 2015, the word “technology” may seem a bit overused and for any number of viably accurate reasons.  After all, we are well into our second decade of the twenty-first century.  In order to use this term properly, a company has to deliver on a grand scale.  In a market as crowded as any of the automobile classes, for an automaker to utilize the term and couple with another potentially hot button word like “luxury”, and then to pull it off in style is a feat of epic proportions.  Honda has proven once again why they are who they and redefined why the Fit is even more than it used to be.

Technology and Luxury
Combing the 2015 Fit with its Earth Dreams Technology™ based engine and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with G-Shift Control (CVT) has resulted in nothing short of that to which technology should always aspire: the fusion of necessity and convenience, of desire and dependability, of form and function.  It has increased its acceleration performance over previous models by eleven percent, as well as overall power and torque.

Two newly developed transmissions, the 6-speed manual and CVT+GShift pulled off one of the most admirable outcomes, that of increasing both performance and fuel efficiency.  Typically, it’s one or the other.  In techno-speak, the genie in the bottle is the 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine featuring a DOHC head with i-VTEC+VTC valve and timing control plus direct fuel injection. The reduction in weight and friction along with an increase in compression ratio produces 130 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft. of torque.

The changes didn’t stop under the hood.   The Fit also great benefits from Honda's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, creating a lighter, more rigid global structure able to support and take full advantage of a vast number of improvements to both front and rear suspensions as well as a steering systems. ACE is a Honda-exclusive body design that “utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This helps reduce the force transferred to the cabin and more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles involved.”  Additionally, a longer wheelbase was included to increase overall driving stability and agility drivers should be able to appreciate fully as they put it through crucible of our less than stellar modern roads.

New standard features on all Fit models include auto on-off headlights, LED brake lights, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, Smart Entry Push Button Start, a one-touch control moonroof, 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio with HondaLink.
The 2015 Fit stands out among its predecessors with a new sporty exterior design, it coming announced with purpose by new, slimmer headlights, which achieve synergy with the bold new design.  The lower intake melds with the linear slope of the hood as it embraces the windshield effortlessly through to the roofline and punctuated with attitude by its color-matched spoiler. To accentuate the fresh exterior styling, the Fit will be available in eight colors, including several vibrant options.
The interior has a noticeably felt increase its class-leading overall space, featuring a 4.9 cubic feet increase in passenger volume and a 4.8-inch increase in rear seat legroom.  This spaciousness serves to draw the eyes across the interior soft-touch surfaces and linger the spectrum of bold color choices of black with silver accents.  The blue backlit instrument matches well with the available Display Audio touchscreen interface to provide maximum visibility as well as the intriguing sense of aesthetics. The EX-L model further increases the premium quality by offering heated leather seats for the first time.

The resulting outcome of designing the Fit with a center-mounted fuel tank and the inclusion of the ingenious Honda Magic Seat™ is to create comfortable seating for five and their cargo.  The Magic Seat™ achieves this as either of the 60/40-split rear seatbacks can fold down flat and flush with the low cargo floor to longer and taller ample space on the floor.

Safety and Accolades
In addition to the Fit being named a Car and Driver"10-Best" vehicle for seven straight years, Honda’s premiere subcompact has a list of achievements and awards that are the envy of this or any class.
The new Honda Fit for 2015 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded it the coveted five-star “Overall Vehicle Score”.
It also earned “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), only the second car in its class to have received such a high rating. That’s no small achievement, to be sure.
The 2015 Fit has earned the top award in its segment for the 2015 Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards. Praising it as versatile, tech-savvy and fun to drive, the reviewers concluded, “More than a resale value standout, the 2015 Honda Fit qualifies as a smart buy from all angles.”

Among the many reasons for these and other accolades are its new list of standard safety features, now included on all models:  Vehicle Stability AssistTM (VSA®) with traction control, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, a multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines and expanded view driver's mirror.  The Honda LaneWatch display is standard on EX and above trims.
