Honda Fit: Destination Los Angeles

At this year's Los Angeles Auto Show, American audiences were in for a treat, as they saw a vehicle that has yet to come to American soil - the Honda Jazz EV - which is commonly known in the US and Canada as the Honda Fit.

Sure, Honda Superstore of Joliet in Joliet has plenty of new and pre-owned Honda Fit hatchbacks, but the one thing missing is all electric version. There has been some speculation that Honda's unveiling at the LAAS is a hint of things to come!

Alongside a number of rumors, it was suggested that the Honda Fit EV, which claims a stunning 123 city-mile per charge, will be on US dealer lots, and ready for purchase by the middle of 2012.

Three modes will be available for the Honda Fit EV:

  1. Econ
  2. Normal
  3. Sport

Each mode will alter the driving experience and maximize the overall efficiency of the car. What is equally impressive, is when using the 240-volt charger, Fit EV can fully recharge in about three hours.

Honda will begin leasing Fit EV models to customers throughout the California and Oregon region, starting in the summer of 2012. An expansion by early 2013 will bring the vehicle to "six East Coast markets."1

We expect the demand for these vehicles to be very high, especially since only 1100 models are going to be produced over the next 2 - 3 years. For those interested parties, you might have to get in line once the east coast markets are announced. Rumors suggest that the retail price will be $38,675 - with a lease price of $399/mth.
